Bio

Gerald McClendon has been called the most soulful singer in Chicago. Given the competition, that's no small compliment. Given his stylistic, expressive, and vocal range ... it's no empty boast.

Music has been his life-long passion. At the age of four he stood in front of the radio - listening, singing, and absorbing. Learning from the masters ... Otis Redding, Wilson Picket, Marvin Gaye, Little Milton, Bobby Blue Bland.

Gerald has the rare ability to take a song that has been ingrained in the public consciousness, reshape it, and make it his own - without losing the emotional essence. Even more compelling is his approach to new and original material. To anything he touches, he lends a fresh, evocative, sensual, and truly original voice.

From the Taste of Chicago to opening for The Temptations, from a cruise ship in Asia to the most popular club in Sydney, The Basement, Gerald McClendon has been electrifying audiences, making feet dance and sparks fly with his charisma and his sensual voice.

Gerald draws from traditional blues, R&B, and the classic soul sounds of Motown, Stax and Atlantic. He's also grounded in traditional gospel and has absorbed the best of rock and pop. He applies these lessons to a broad range of contemporary original material from blues to African to Latin music genres.

Whether taking you to church, to the dance floor, or back in the alley - Gerald's voice soars with grace and intensity.
